PERCEPTION BECOMES THE REALITY

    In the digital era, lots of things have changed. We are trying to relate all kinds of digital data with our real worlds. However, the most critical product of those relations is social media platforms. The platforms are not the places that imitate real social interactions; rather than their rules and contexts, they have created a new world: A world of the digits and perceptions. What I mean is our directed perception. Everyone begins to react and evaluate things on those platforms, even if they do not know anything about it. Equal representation power of architecture professors and ordinary people caused a new architectural reading based on the images. Uncontrollable spread of the information leads to uncontrollable truths. One of the best examples for those digitally constructed truths is the case of Kahramanmaraş İl Özel İdare Binası. This building is somehow classified as the most absurd building in the world. However, the classification is not based on any authorized evaluation. Verifiability of the information is our main concern. It is clear that nearly no one is interested in this verifiability issue. Generally, we tend to accept those constructed truths. In the end, images and the power of crowds begin to be an essential part of our digital reality. In fact, this most absurd building is a product of the competition. The juries who had proved their competence abut the architecture choose to build this building. It is interesting that how opposite is the actual condition and constructed one on the digital environment.
