According to Baudrillard we are constracting our own understanding. Moreover this understanding is usually shaped by the created meaning patterns. We are acting according to the assigned values and predictions related to things we are surrounded by. In this context, architecture has a significant role while affecting those predictions. Simulacra needs a context to exist. And physical contexts are the primary concern of the architecture itself.
Las Vegas can be the existing case for clarifying
the relation of simulations with architecture. For this case, what we see is a
great entertainment place in the center of the desert. All those fake
ornamental architectural interventions create the simulation. The area changes
the decisions and actions of the people. When they are part of the simulation
of entertainment, the concrete reality of the place is forgotten. Actually,
there isn’t any truth about the place itself, but the truth is also created
from scratch with the developed simulation. Luxury hotels, giant pools, casinos
are some critical parts of this truth creation. Then with the new truth
perception, the roles of the people in the Las Vegas simulation are determined.
The service workers, tourists, investors are the outcomes of this big
simulation. Their priorities and actions create a mutual relationship with the
Las Vegas case.
