INSEPERABLE CONSTRUCTION

What I want to investigate is the shopping malls. I will try to relate these building with the simulation theory of the Jean Baudrillard. In the context of shopping malls, the constructed truth around the public behavior is obvious. For example, Taurus Shopping Mall is a closed box located just next to the road. The main aim of it is making money for its investors. There are no other strong criteria which is supporting the existence of the building. However, the constructed truth about it claims that this is the place for happy life. All the luxury is just what human need. The colorful led lights make the place lively. Simulation is starts when we start to act like these statements are true and accepted. In this simulation environment, the reality and the constructed reality becomes one piece. Then the constructed one becomes an inseparable part of the real one. In fact, it replaces with the real one. In this way, the simulation is created with the help of weakening the boundaries of the pure reality. At the end Taurus becomes what we are perceiving. The features such as: ‘It is one of the lively spaces in the Ankara’, ‘There is a good feeling of visiting the shopping mall.’  are all the parts which are composing the simulation.
